Case Analysis 1
The Case Analysis was not as bad as i thought it would be. I know the saying that "two minds are better than one" but i didn't think it was the case for writing papers. I found that having the extra person made it easier to bounce ideas off of each other. It actually made me think about the team performance curve because me and my partner began developing an interdependence. I think it made some of the material we've covered in class more evident. We established roles, determined goals, and began using each other to accomplish more. Maybe two minds are better than one for writing a paper.

I agree with you that having two people to share with in writing the paper made it easier. In my group we talked about what information from class we wanted to compare with the case. Then we were able to develop our paper in away to make all of our information fit together. It was a pretty good experience.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I didn't think working with a partner would really make a difference for writing a paper, but it did. Working together to create ideas was very productive. When writing a paper individually, if you're having trouble coming up with more information, you may be stuck until another idea hits you. When working with my partner, we built off each others thoughts, making it much easier and faster to complete the paper. I liked working in pairs, two minds are better than one.
ReplyDeleteI still don't really think working in groups for a writing assignment is better than working individually however my partner and I did experience some of the same processes. It was better in the sense that we were able to brainstorm better and come up with more ideas. I prefer writing papers by myself but it is good to have another person to help with the idea process.
ReplyDeleteI agree with cs8731 here, while having a partner for this project greatly helped in the brainstorming process, I don't think partners really help with the writing process all that much. Everybody's writing style is different, so doing equal amounts of work and combining it is nearly impossible if you want a cohesive paper. Group papers always end the same way for me at least, one person taking all of the information and ideas and writing the paper themselves, so it's consistent. While this has provided me with good results in different classes, I would say the work balance has never truly been balanced.
